Relaxing Escape: Tips for a Stress-Free Vacation

You may be visiting family in a nearby city or far away land, or perhaps you are longing for the perfect RV getaway alone or with a significant other. However you choose to spend your vacation this year, there’s nothing like a stress-free getaway. It’s how you spend your time getting there and the precautions you take that will determine whether or not you can minimize the travel anxiety.
Here are some ways to make the most of your vacation and have a relaxing escape, courtesy of Visit PCB Condo Rentals.
Stick to Your Budget
One of the most crucial factors of a relaxing escape vacation is having an ideal budget in mind so that you’re not spending too much and accruing more debt from an unplanned shopping spree. According to lendedu, Americans expect to spend nearly $2,000 per person on vacation. CNN’s finance blog recommends that you set aside 5–7 percent of your income for your vacation. Overall, you should only spend what you can afford so that you still have money left over for essentials.
If an RV trip is in order, this can be a significantly cheaper getaway, especially considering that you’ll have options to make your own meals and sleep in your own vehicle. It’s a win-win. Still, you’ll need to budget for gas, park fees, food and beverage as well as any costs for attractions or activities.
Take packing lessons from the best
Getting ready to leave and all that you have to take care of can cause anxiety. People who have to travel a lot for work, really don’t have the luxury to get unsettled by packing, because they’ve learned what they need, what they don’t need, and what they can buy if they have to. Browsing online for some packing advice can make you feel better about leaving.
The roll method really works. You can get more clothes in the same bag without wrinkling them. Or you can try packing cubes, with the cube the perfect shape to make the most of the space in your bag while keeping you organized. Keep electronics where you can easily access them to take out, and to repack again.
With the phone charger the number one item left in hotels, you’ll want to bring an extra or two. Nothing causes anxiety like not being able to use your phone.
Roll with it
You’ve waited all year for your vacation, so try to develop the right mindset. Not everything is going to go as planned, so your ability to improvise, and to enjoy not knowing exactly how everything will go, can go a long way toward helping you really relax. If there’s one or two things you really want to do while you’re away, prioritize them, and let that be enough. Vacationing too hard will simply cause stress.
Build in some downtime, and take turns letting someone else plan what’s for dinner, or where to go next. As much as you vacation to experience new places, you’re also doing it to spend time with the ones you love.
It’s also important to address the stress. Stress before vacation is inevitable, what with packing, planning, taking care of work obligations, etc. But stress on your vacation can be mitigated more easily (barring any major mishaps), and you can employ ways to manage your stress so that you can be more present and in the moment.
For example, if you worry about overspending, refer back to your budget, acknowledge the worry, then let it go. Deep breathing exercises are great too, especially if you have a worry about something left at work. Who knows? You may find that the way you manage your stress on vacation can be easily adapted for when you return to work.
Appreciate all you have
Being away from home can make you really miss it. You’ll be back soon enough, so take inventory while you’re away. You’ve got a job that makes it possible for you to take the vacation. You’ve got a family and the means to bring them somewhere. Take lots of photos and maybe send yourself an email to open in a week or so to help you remember the new perspective you gained while you were away. Be thankful for those around you and be sure to let them know you appreciate them.
